  1. WIDE AREA BETA CYCLE - BETA TESTING RULES

  4. 1) All BETA reports must include the DATE and TIME of the software being
  5.    tested.  Please do NOT say "I have the latest" as this is often wrong and,
  6.    at least, generally does not agree with our own internal testing release.
  7.    So please take the time to look at the date on the .EXE file and include
  8.    that information in your report.

  10. 2) All BETA reports must be submitted directly on Salt Air in the BETA
  11.    conference.  Sometimes we will ask you to call us in order to work with
  12.    you on duplicating a BETA report.  However, we ask that you first submit
  13.    the report here so that all reports will have a written 'trail' to follow
  14.    so that we can track the progress of the testing.

  16. 3) A picture truly IS worth a thousand words.  If you can provide a screen
  17.    capture, a callers log entry, etc, this will often save a lot of messaging
  18.    back and forth that might otherwise be necessary to clarify your report.

  20.    Help us out by telling us the SYMPTOMS of the problem, let us diagnose it.
  21.    That is, instead of saying "it locked up" (which is your diagnosis), tell
  22.    us what you did and what you saw (on the screen, on the modem, etc) and
  23.    let us diagnose the symptoms.

  25. 4) We ask that you read the HISTORY file to keep yourself up to date with the
  26.    changes being made to PCBoard.  Sometimes the information in the HISTORY
  27.    file is critically important to keeping your system up and running.  Other
  28.    times it's merely good-to-know information.  Please keep abreast of the
  29.    changes being made.  The BETA door will give you a cut-down version of the
  30.    HISTORY showing you only what is NEW SINCE your last download.  Or, you
  31.    can type HISTORY at the command prompt to view the latest history
  32.    information.
